EnergyBLOX™ Lithium-Ion Battery Module

UtiliCell’s EnergyBLOX™ solution is a high performance, long lasting operationally safe platform for mission critical applications. Each EnergyBLOX™ is a 2.560 kW energy storage system, capable of producing 100 amps of continuous current. The complete module includes a high performance yet cost-effective fully-integrated Lithium-Ion battery array and separate advanced Battery Management System (BMS) and Thermal Management System (TMS).


Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Array

Each 19 inch EnergyBLOX™ houses 8 large prismatic 3.2 V Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery cells. Format 400 Amp-hour cells result in a simpler and more efficient storage system design. The EnergyBLOX™ system is reliable while maintaining high module density as a result of fewer cells and battery connections.


BatteryWatch™ Battery Management System

UtiliCELL’s EnergyBLOX™ come standard with our advanced BatteryWatch™ Battery Management System (BMS). This sophisticated system controls the charging and discharging of the storage batteries. A wide variety of system parameters are tracked and stored to ensure the health and history of every battery cell, overall performance and accurate forward-looking predictions can be developed from the data. BatteryWatch™ protects and optimizes the battery by protecting the battery from operating outside its Safe Operating Area, monitoring its state, calculating secondary data, reporting that data, controlling its environment, authenticating it and / or balancing it. BatteryWatch™ also performs Thermal Management. Thermal management of Lithium-Ion battery systems is critical to success because extreme temperatures can affect battery performance, reliability, safety and durability. UtiliCell’s high-performance Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology delivers high power and energy density combined with excellent safety performance and extensive life cycling in a lighter weight, more compact package. Our products have low capacity loss and impedance growth over time, allowing our systems to meet end-of-life power and energy requirements with minimal pack oversizing.

Our new LiFePO4 chemistry allows improved temperature performance and operating range and a low Equivalent Series Resistance results in best in class efficiency.

Higher Usable Energy

Our batteries have higher usable energy than other Lihium-Ion technologies which enables greater battery utilization. This results in excellent power capability at low and high SOC.

Our large format 400 Amp-hour cells result in a simpler and more efficient storage system design. Fewer cells and battery connections translates to a more reliable system with a greater energy density per module.


Modular and Flexible

EnergyBLOX™ are flexible and scalable storage building blocks. Energy capacity can easily be increased by adding additional units. As a result, projects can be sized according to specific needs. Each 19 inch module can be bolted into standard telecom racks with the ability to connect up to 32 units on a single cable. The highly uniform characteristics of EnergyBLOX™ allow thousands to be assembled in massive parallel and series matrices, ideally suited for use in large- scale industrial and utility applications requiring hundreds of megawatts of power while still maintaining a manageable footprint. The ability to scale up or down depending on the demand for energy storage gives this unit superior flexibility. The modules are designed for easy integration and are hot-swappable for continuous operation.

Warranty

UtiliCell’s EnergyBLOX™ VLF 400Ah Battery Modules are uniquely and specially configured for optimum system performance and are warranted for 3,650 cycles or up to 10 years, whichever comes first.
